In the fog of war, as Alastair Crooke emphasizes in a recent Judging Freedom interview, it’s hard to know exactly what’s happening. That makes it all the more important to listen for what might be missing from the national news. In the context of the Israel–Iran missile war, all I can say is: thoughts and prayers to those of you holding stock in Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, Israel Aerospace Industries, and Raytheon (now rebranded as RTX Corp), co-producers of the Iron Dome. Fortunately, the U.S. will skip this cheap version by going straight for the luxury Golden Dome. Forget about the amount scheduled for this in the Big Bad Bill. Who needs phantasy estimates?
Here is a section of the interview in which Judge Napolitano raises some interesting questions:
What damage did Donald Trump personally do to American diplomacy in the future? I mean — stated differently — who would believe anything the president or his diplomats say in negotiations, if he's going to end up — we'll play the clip in a minute — killing, killing the people with whom he's negotiating?
That’s of course a rhetorical question, but let’s spell out the answer: nobody, except the people in the U.S. and its vassal states. It’s also worth noting that killing your negotiating partners is nothing new. The same was done to Ismail Haniyeh, the Hamas political leader actively involved in ceasefire and hostage negotiations with Israel. He was assassinated in Tehran on the night of 31 July 2024 while attending the inauguration ceremony of the Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian.
There’s a system in place that transcends the charades enacted by various presidents. Presidents come and presidents go; the British, Israeli, and U.S. intelligence services run the show. What they tell us is a toxic mix of poetic license and outright lies, made for media amplification.
Despite the speeches, photo ops, and shifting party labels, the same holds for the U.S. nuclear "modernization" program: it's running on autopilot across administrations. Follow the money and you’ll see:

Nuclear weapons spending has accelerated dramatically since —irony of ironies — President Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009.
There’s a whole host of additional players — and the implicit and explicit nuclear saber-rattling in particular brings to mind Barbara Tuchman’s warning: “War is the unfolding of miscalculations.”
On a lighter — but still serious — note, here’s a parting bonus: an Honest Government Ad from The Juice Media about Australia’s nuclear plan. Strongly recommended, especially for members of the younger generation who’ve recently started to believe that nuclear energy might actually help the working class.
